Ghanaian musician, Black Sherif, has denied accusations that he is promoting and inciting violence in the music video for his newest single ‘Second sermon’

Black was reacting to the raging controversy regarding the appropriateness of the music video, snippets of which has gone viral on social media.

He spoke to MzGee on the Showbiz segment of TV3’s New Day.

Black explained that all the armour and machetes display in the video were purposely to tell an art story and not otherwise.

He said, “it is all for the art and no violence. It is no violence that’s actually the song theme and it is all for the art and I am not in support of any violence”.

The musician said his choice of words in his songs are only because of the message he wants to put across to his audience. He however stated emphatically that he has not changed his style in any way despite the backlash from social media

He said ‘with the choice of words, it’s all for the art, like I said earlier and that’s what people on the street love and you cannot lie about it. Art shouldn’t be explained everywhere or something. like you for deep am or to explain so many times (sic). You are still going to see that Black Sherif. If that be what the song is saying, then we go do am because it is all for the art and no violent intentions’.
